Welcome to the farm!

What started in 2018 as Vermont Farmers Hemp Company has now branched into the cannabis space as Farmers Underground. After 5 years of growing in the hemp space, joining Vermont's adult use market in 2022 seemed like another fun adventure!

The primary farmers are John S. and John F. Rodgers, who have worked together for decades and farmed together since VFHC's creation in 2018. There is also lots of support from John S.'s wife Brenda, John F.'s wife Kristen, their children and a handful of close friends.

Farmers Underground grows organically on 5th, 6th and now 7th generation farmland in West Glover. We are passionate stewards of our 380+ acres of beautiful farm and forest land. Through practices such as using organic soil amendments, crop rotation, cover cropping, natural pest control, companion crops and more we can grow clean, quality cannabis while respecting and preserving our land.

Meet the crew - "Know you farmer"

John S. - aka "Big John"
His resume includes working on dairy farms, owning and operating a small masonry and excavation business for 3 decades, several years in both the Vermont State House of Representatives and Senate, and some *alleged* gorilla growing back in his younger years. Vermont's craft beer, hemp and cannabis legislation were all projects of his during his time in the state house. He also started Vermont Farmers Hemp Company in 2018 after rediscovering his love of growing cannabis.

John F. - aka "Johnny"
His teens and early 20s were spent working alongside John S. doing masonry and excavation. Graduating from VTC with an electromechanical engineering degree in 2015 he has worked fulltime as an engineer since 2016. He was a cofounder of VFHC and has been the marketing, social media and graphics person as well as a grower for both farm businesses since, with dreams of eventually leaving engineering to focus solely on the farm and other interests.

Brenda -
Her official title is registered nurse, but she also does a lot around the farm. Helping in the field when needed, she also keeps us fed and keeps track of the various businesses finances.

Her official title is dental hygienist, but she helps on the farm in many ways. Getting her hands dirty is one, but she also spends a lot of time raising the two kiddos to allow John F. to have two "fulltime" jobs.

Aria & Lincoln - "the 7th generation"
We were fortunate that Ari got to spend a few years among the hemp crops before adult use legislation made it illegal to do so. But nonetheless both kids like to be involved when they can be! We hope they can be a growing part of the family farm for years to come!

We are the Rodgers.
And we are Farmers Underground.

Grateful to for this plant. Grateful for this land. Grateful for our retail partners and customers. Grateful to be here!
One love! - The Rodgers / FU
